Why is Self-Reflection important?

Spoiler alert: it helps us live in community, it helps us sit with discomfort, it helps us see injustice, it keeps us from becoming egomaniacal leaders... and more...

In this week’s conversation, Krista and I wrestled with questions around self-reflection. Why is it important? Why do we often resist it? How does it help us deepen our relationships and strengthen our capacity for “gritty community”? In what ways do many of the self-help books and programs fall short? How does the shadow side of self-reflection sometimes show up?

Honest self-reflection is an important part of what it means to be a Grounded Guide, which we’re unpacking further in our Leadership for Liminal Spaces program. In our next webinar, on May 29th, we’ll be talking about The Psychology of Leadership: Exploring beliefs, biases, and identity.
