I love this reflection/contemplation Heather. May more and more of us white bodied people carrying the gifts of privilege, learn to spend more time loitering uselessly. Hopefully together. And in so doing, transmit this particular gift, which has been marginalized for so long, back up the lineage lines to our colonized and colonizing ancestors.

I love the idea of "transmitting the gift of loitering/moodling"! :)

Yes, and moodling is a very precious non-doing practice as well, very connected with loitering... I'm curious about how they both seem to be resonant with tenderness of some kind? How would you speak of this Heather?

A very good question, and now you've got me considering that I need to write a post about the relationship between moodling and tenderness!! For starters I would say that moodling is one of the expressions of a tender life - that when we learn to treat ourselves with tenderness, we give ourselves spaciousness for moodling (and we don't judge it in others).

Saw you post this on FB and so glad I subscribed and read this. Thankyou for expressing a way of life that l love to live. We can also hold space for ourselves as well as others.

I'm glad you came too! Yes, as I often say when I teach, holding space is about 10% external and 90% internal - we hold a LOT of space for ourselves!

Moodling is my new favorite word, & little did I know, it’s been my zip code since birth!🌀Love how you equate holding space with Useless [sic] Bay, & describe their parallels so eloquently. Thank you for this beautiful, humanizing share. ✨🐙🌊

Thank you! I don't think it's always been my zip code, but I'm happy it is now!
